In re: economy as of 2015

We should cap profits. Or profits should be divvied up to all employees - CEOs to the mail guy based on hierarchy. Fuck the shareholders. Corporations make more money but real people continue to struggle.

i know. Not practical. Not realistic. Just where my head's at today.

In re: embarrassing mom

That time when I let my coworker talk to my mom on the phone. And the first thing my mom says is how I have a quick temper and to take care of me. MOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM

In re: happiness

Why do people need inspirational quote things to be reminded to be happy (of all things) everyday?

When a slightly bitchy bus driver and the old Korean woman smile + wave goodbye at each other as she gets off her bus stop. Friendship without words that transcend race, age, and mutual interests.

new years resolution

I've already figured out my New Year's resolution: I want to do a real full pull up. I've never been able to do one in my life. EVERRRR. I've just got the weakest upper body in the world. Then I have tree trunks for thighs so it's an uphill battle. Then I found out that I've been doing pushups incorrectly my ENTIRE life. Why hasn't anyone told me before? The other day, Alex taught me how to do real ones. God damn, they are not easy. But I've been doing them everyday and I'm getting real reps in there (granted it's like 10 but it's a step up from 0).

Alex says my NYR is not a good goal. Apparently he can help me achieve this goal within a month. So we'll see - if I can bang one out by February, I'll just up the ante. Or switch it to a chin up or something along those lines.

no power in winter

My town's power went out just now. Luckily for me, I still have 30% battery left on my iPhone which means I have 30min left because my iPhone 5 is crap. Obviously my priorities are straight because capturing these thoughts on 'paper' is far more important than any emergency call I'd need to make.

You know what the worst part is - my entire apartment runs on electric. Yeah... Basically this is torturous for me mainly because I'm home alone. I just don't like the dark. I haven't watched the Purge but I can imagine this is how the mayhem starts. Electricity goes out and shit, time to fend for yourself against crazies.

Well here's a list of downsides of having your power go out during winter (especially if your apt is run almost entirely on electric):

  • Can't cook or eat
  • No heat
  • Can't escape because the garage opener doesn't work
  • Forced to workout because it's cold
  • Stay really cold because I'm too lazy to work out
  • Too cold to go anywhere else (also because the power is out everywhere as well)
  • Obtain bruises from walking into things
  • Did I mention the eating thing? - I'm starving
  • Too much scented candle
  • Reading a book in this condition sucks
  • I'm scared of the dark
  • Soon I will run out of ways of communicating with everyone (assuming power isn't restored soon)
  • Hallway is dark (no way I go out there - that's how people get merked out)

This makes me wonder - do the cast on Walking Dead ever go through winter? I feel like they're sweating all the time. I would not survive winter. I'm in a shelter (my apt) and I can't wear enough layers.

EDIT: So power went back on after 2 hours. I eventually did end of working out a bit - mainly pushups and crunches. I kind of tricked myself into thinking it was the end of the world and working out would be beneficial. Because you know, it's all about the core when the world ends.

love is sending legally purchased music

So two of my dear friends are in love and have been for a really really long time. Today, my guy friend sent his girlfriend the new Beyoncé album. He didn't rip/illegally download it. Straight legit right from iTunes. If that's not love, I don't know what is.

Who buys music these days? With free online streaming music services available, there's really no need. And if you like it enough, you can find many places to download it. So the fact that someone is willing to spend money legitimately on something that's widely accessed illegitimately is quite amazing.

It's really about the little thoughtful things in life that carry a lot of weight (maybe just for me). Big gestures go a long way too but it's the little, more frequent acts that keeps the romance going. Big gestures happen once in a while (unless you're balling out of control - in which case it's really a small thing to you), but it's about the things that happen in between the big stuff that matter.

And fuck - it's Beyoncé.

2013 holiday party

Since I'm not working - I decided to throw myself a holiday party (Alex is at his holiday party - I didn't join because of many reasons).

So what's a ginahan holiday party?

-tree smoke
-big bag of pop secret movie theater butter
-turn the heat way up
-pelmeni (Russian dumplings)
-tea (for tummy/body heat maintenance)
-delivery of some sort (still trying to sort it out)
-bunch of lottery tickets (I don't normally do this but when it's $400 million, it's worth it)

Yeah... Luxurious. Let's hope next year I can reflect back and say things got better.

Cheers!

no radio road trips

Alex and I went to Atlantic City this weekend with a bunch of my cousins. Fun fun times.

I realized on the way back home that our radio was off. At some point on our way down, we turned off the radio - probably when it was the top of the hour and every station plays commercials. We actually do that a lot (mainly when it's just the two of us) when we have to drive more than an hour somewhere. The radio just gets in the way of us .. talking, bantering, singing, seat dancing, etc. But don't get me wrong, there's also nothing better than a fucking car party when the right music/songs are playing.

thoughts on paris

My boyfriend and I visited Paris at the end of September. Amazing trip - although there were quite a few people disappointed that I didn't come back engaged (not a big deal for me). We stayed in a great apartment (via airbnb) on the border of Bastille and Marais (perfect location for us). There are a ton of things to see (all touristy but there's a reason for it) and experience. But the one and toughest question I got a lot was "What was your favorite thing about Paris?". Well shit - I have no fucking idea. Honestly, I liked the idea of being in Paris more than anything and experiencing something that's a bit different than what I know. But anyway, hard for me to articulate properly - I liked it all.

But I wanted to put a post together for just my general thoughts on Paris:
