My town's power went out just now. Luckily for me, I still have 30% battery left on my iPhone which means I have 30min left because my iPhone 5 is crap. Obviously my priorities are straight because capturing these thoughts on 'paper' is far more important than any emergency call I'd need to make.
You know what the worst part is - my entire apartment runs on electric. Yeah... Basically this is torturous for me mainly because I'm home alone. I just don't like the dark. I haven't watched the Purge but I can imagine this is how the mayhem starts. Electricity goes out and shit, time to fend for yourself against crazies.
Well here's a list of downsides of having your power go out during winter (especially if your apt is run almost entirely on electric):
- Can't cook or eat
- No heat
- Can't escape because the garage opener doesn't work
- Forced to workout because it's cold
- Stay really cold because I'm too lazy to work out
- Too cold to go anywhere else (also because the power is out everywhere as well)
- Obtain bruises from walking into things
- Did I mention the eating thing? - I'm starving
- Too much scented candle
- Reading a book in this condition sucks
- I'm scared of the dark
- Soon I will run out of ways of communicating with everyone (assuming power isn't restored soon)
- Hallway is dark (no way I go out there - that's how people get merked out)
This makes me wonder - do the cast on Walking Dead ever go through winter? I feel like they're sweating all the time. I would not survive winter. I'm in a shelter (my apt) and I can't wear enough layers.
EDIT: So power went back on after 2 hours. I eventually did end of working out a bit - mainly pushups and crunches. I kind of tricked myself into thinking it was the end of the world and working out would be beneficial. Because you know, it's all about the core when the world ends.
